On Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at approximately 3:00 P.M., deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, Palm Desert Station responded to 67-800 block of Clubhouse Dr. in the unincorporated area of Desert Hot Springs regarding a home intrusion robbery.
The homeowner was confronted by an intruder in his residence after hearing a knock on the door. The suspect struck the victim several times with an object before taking property from the residence. Witnesses observed the suspect leave the area in a silver-colored Toyota Corolla with a white male adult in the passenger seat. Detectives from the Palm Desert Sheriff's Station responded and assumed the investigation.
Local agencies were notified and a short time later Desert Hot Springs Police observed a vehicle with occupants fitting the description. The vehicle was stopped and the occupants detained for the Sheriff's Department. The driver was positively identified as the person leaving the residence and was identified as 51-year-old Palm Desert resident, Quinton Gray. The passenger was interviewed at the Palm Desert Station and later released. Gray was booked into the Indio Jail for robbery.
The victim was taken to Desert Hospital and treated for his injuries. He was later released.

A Palm Desert man was arrested Wednesday, suspected of beating a homeowner in a home invasion robbery southeast of Desert Hot Springs, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
Quinton Ulysses Gray Jr., 51, was being held in lieu of $1 million bail Thursday at the Riverside County jail in Indio, according to jail records.
Gray knocked at the door of a home in the 67-800 block of Club House Drive, hit the homeowner who answered the door multiple times with an object and stole items from the home, according to the sheriff's department.
Deputies were called to the neighborhood about 3 p.m. Wednesday and fielded reports from witnesses who said they saw the robber leaving in a silver Toyota Corolla.
Soon, Desert Hot Springs police spotted a car that matched witnesses' description and stopped it.
Sheriff's deputies questioned the driver — Gray, who was arrested on suspicion of robbery — as well as a passenger who was released.
The homeowner was treated and released from Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, according to the sheriff's department.

When a person knocks on your door, don't open it until you ask them to identify who they are, you know who they are or are expecting them to arrive. Instruct your children to NEVER open the door!
