Neighborhood Watch Meeting Minutes - Stray dogs discussed
The main focus of today's Neighborhood Watch meeting was "stray dogs" what to do, who to call and how to help.
Officers Rosa and DuShane from the Riverside Animal Control Department delivered an informative presentation to a large group of community residents today. They stated the facts, brought hand out materials for our education, and gave us clear instructions what to do when we are faced with stray animals in the neighborhood.
There were many newcomers to the meeting. It's good to see and meet our neighbors. Today's meeting minutes are available by clicking the link below:
There will be no meeting in November and December due to the holidays and people not being available. The next meeting will be scheduled for January. We'll post the date on the blog later this year.

What should we do about barking dogs?? I have called the sherrif many times on one particular dog. Well, the owner actually, because I don't blame the dog at all. It is the owner who is 100% responsible to handle their dog's barking problems. Maybe we need a petition to get the owner (s) fined after a certain number of attempts to handle the situation.
What color/breed dog is it????
Has anyone contacted the owner to let them know of the problem???
Has the sheriff made contact with the owner???
I don't know of many dogs that don't bark sometimes.
About the barking dog....yes the sherrif has been to their home at least 4 times, and even I went over there to ask them to please take their lonely barking dog inside at night. It barks non stop every time it is left outside all night. Did the animal control officers who were here mention anything like that situation when they visited or was it all about stray dogs with no owners? I would like to get the contact info for someone who does know the proceedure to take in this situation.

I believe the State of California has Nuisance Neighbor Laws. Google it to see what you can find out. If the barking is an issue for you, there may be something you can do.
